I was recently scrolling on my newsfeed Facebook when I discovered a new story about a 19-year-old young man with cerebral palsy whose name is Chad Lowery from Chesterfield, Virginia was denied a job interview because of his Cerebral Palsy.
When I first heard about Chad’s story my skin boiled in anger as a young woman with Cerebral Palsy I know how hard it is to find a decent place of employment because we have this constant fear of being discriminated against and stereotyped within our own society.
Here we have Chad a young adult who wants to go out in society and become independent and make a living for himself and just because somebody that is really educated on having somebody with a disability turns him away
This is a major problem in society believe it or not people with disabilities get discriminated each and every day my thing is why is it a problem still in this modern day and age to where we should as a society and nation more about the quality and acceptance discrimination should be a thing of the past and it shouldn’t be term or action we use or do in the present time .
In my honest opinion I feel as if this is the problem with society altogether here is a young man who wants to stomp on the obstacles that come his way and decides to get a job but since he’s disabled one person in society won’t let that happen basically I feel as if people like this store manager are the reason why people in society that have disabilities are discouraged to go out there and try to live an independent life because they are afraid of people stereotyping them and that’s exactly what this manager did no doubt
I just hope that someday I won’t have to come on my blog and write such a heartbreaking story such as this one
