If you had told me ten years ago that I would one day be writing this article, I probably would not have believed you.
For most of my adult life, people have known me as a disability advocate.
They’ve known me as the founder of Stomping On CP.
They’ve known me as an author, radio host, podcaster, speaker, and someone passionate about educating the world about cerebral palsy and disability inclusion.
For years, that was my mission.
I spent countless hours writing articles, interviewing guests, producing content, speaking publicly, and sharing my experiences as a woman living with cerebral palsy.
I advocated for accessibility.
I advocated for acceptance.
I advocated for inclusion.
I advocated for awareness.
And I still believe those things matter.
But somewhere along the way, God began doing something incredible in my heart.
He showed me that while disability advocacy is important, there is something even more important.
The Gospel.
You see, people need more than awareness.
They need hope.
People need more than accessibility.
They need salvation.
People need more than inclusion.
They need Jesus.
And little by little, God began transforming my mission.
Not replacing it.
Expanding it.
Today, I still advocate for people with disabilities.
But now I advocate for something eternal.
Today, my greatest passion is helping people with disabilities discover a relationship with Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Because while a wheelchair may impact how someone moves through life, only Jesus can transform where they spend eternity.
Looking Back at God’s Faithfulness
When I reflect on my life, I can clearly see God’s fingerprints all over it.
I see Him in the moments I didn’t understand.
I see Him in the disappointments.
I see Him in the struggles.
I see Him in the unanswered prayers.
I see Him in the tears.
I see Him in the victories.
And I see Him in every opportunity He gave me to serve others.
Like many people, I’ve experienced seasons of loneliness, heartbreak, disappointment, depression, uncertainty, and questions about my purpose.
I’ve wondered why certain doors closed.
I’ve wondered why certain relationships ended.
I’ve wondered why some dreams never happened.
But now I understand something I didn’t understand then.
God wasn’t ignoring me.
He was preparing me.
Every article I wrote.
Every radio show I hosted.
Every interview I conducted.
Every book I published.
Every challenge I faced.
Every obstacle I overcame.
God was preparing me for ministry.
The platform I thought I was building for disability advocacy was actually becoming a platform for sharing Christ.
And that realization changed everything.
Why Disability Ministry Matters
One of the greatest burdens on my heart today is helping churches better understand disability ministry.
For years, I have met people who felt forgotten.
People who felt invisible.
People who questioned whether they belonged in church.
Families who felt isolated because of disability.
Young people who wondered if God had a purpose for their lives.
The truth is that disability ministry isn’t simply about ramps, elevators, or accessibility accommodations.
Those things matter.
But disability ministry is ultimately about making sure every person has access to the Gospel.
Jesus constantly sought out those society overlooked.
The blind.
The lame.
The sick.
The hurting.
The rejected.
The forgotten.
He didn’t avoid them.
He welcomed them.
And I believe the Church should do the same.
People with disabilities aren’t projects to be fixed.
They’re people to be loved.
They’re disciples to be equipped.
They’re leaders to be empowered.
They’re children of God.
And they deserve to hear that message.
A New Season of Ministry
This year has been one of the most exciting and humbling seasons of my life.
God continues opening doors I never imagined possible.
In recent weeks, I have been blessed to receive several new ministry specializations and chaplaincy credentials:
• Associate Minister of the Word (May 24, 2026)
• Motorcycle Club Chaplain (May 20, 2026)
• Pet Assisted Chaplain (May 15, 2026)
• Country Club Chaplain (May 14, 2026)
• Homeless Community Chaplain (May 12, 2026)
• Community Chaplain (May 9, 2026)
• Digital Community Chaplain (May 8, 2026)
Each credential represents another opportunity to meet people where they are and share the love of Christ.
I have also had the privilege of helping contribute to the Disability Adult Chaplain course through Christian Leaders Institute.

This project means so much to me because it helps equip future ministry leaders to better serve individuals with disabilities and their families.
For years I advocated for disabled people to be included.
Now I have the opportunity to help train leaders who will minister to them.
That’s something I never take for granted.
Able by Grace Ministries
Perhaps no project better reflects this new season than Able by Grace Ministries.
Able by Grace Ministries exists because I believe every person has value, purpose, and worth in God’s Kingdom.
No matter their disability.
No matter their past.
No matter their circumstances.
God’s grace is sufficient.
His strength is made perfect in weakness.
And His plans are always greater than our own.

Sharing the Gospel Through Media
One of the things I’ve learned is that ministry doesn’t only happen from behind a pulpit.
Sometimes ministry happens through books.
Sometimes it happens through articles.
Sometimes it happens through podcasts.
Sometimes it happens through a simple conversation.
This month I shared a new sermon on YouTube:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKQMxpppnUs
I also continue hosting Faith Over Fried Chicken, where I discuss faith, life, culture, ministry, and practical Christian living:
https://open.spotify.com/episode/5jG4UylnabOYvNyJFsri7e?si=Irfa8V23TO-cSYGHIAkqIw
Alongside my fiancé, Cody A. McWhorter, I also co-host Palsy Power with Cody and Tylia:

Through Palsy Power, we discuss disability, advocacy, relationships, faith, and life as Christians living with cerebral palsy.
I also continue writing for Christian Ledger.

Each platform reaches different people.
But every platform has the same mission.
To point people toward Jesus Christ.
Writing Stories That Heal
God continues to use writing as one of the biggest ministries in my life.
Stories have a unique way of opening hearts.
They help readers feel seen.
They help people process pain.
They help people encounter grace.

Exciting Projects Coming Soon
God isn’t finished yet.
There are several exciting projects on the horizon.
The Yellow Highlighter
Launching October 6, 2026.
The Yellow Highlighter will be a faith-filled devotional lifestyle publication focused on Bible studies, devotionals, testimonies, disability advocacy, Christian encouragement, ministry resources, and stories that heal.
My hope is that readers will grab a cup of coffee, open their Bible, and spend intentional time reflecting on God’s goodness.
The Cost of Building Stomping On CP
This upcoming memoir is perhaps the most personal book I have ever written.
For years, people saw the public platform.
What they didn’t always see were the struggles behind the scenes.
The heartbreak.
The mistakes.
The lessons.
The healing.
The growth.
Most importantly, they didn’t always see how God was working through it all.
This book tells that story.
Not the story of a platform.
But the story of grace.
The Red Wheelchair Patriot Report
I’m also excited to announce an upcoming media and commentary platform:
The Red Wheelchair Patriot Report with Tylia L. Flores
A Disabled Voice for Conservative America.
Follow the project here:
https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61589163905350
This project will focus on disability perspectives within public policy, culture, faith, and conservative thought.
My Prayer Moving Forward
As I look toward the future, I feel renewed.
I feel refreshed.
I feel refined.
Most importantly, I feel called.
Called to write.
Called to preach.
Called to encourage.
Called to serve.
Called to minister.
Called to share the Gospel.
The mission has not changed.
It has simply grown.
Years ago, I advocated for people with disabilities to be seen.
Today, I advocate for people with disabilities to know Jesus.
And if every book I write, every sermon I preach, every podcast I record, every article I publish, and every ministry opportunity I receive helps even one person move closer to Christ, then every step of this journey will have been worth it.
Because at the end of the day, my greatest accomplishment isn’t being an author.
It isn’t being an advocate.
It isn’t being a minister.
It isn’t being a chaplain.
It isn’t building a platform.
My greatest accomplishment is belonging to Jesus Christ.
And that’s the story I want to spend the rest of my life telling.
Stories That Heal,
Tylia L. Flores
