As I reflect on the past month, I cannot help but feel truly grateful for the incredible experiences I have had. It was extra special because my boyfriend Cody and his family came to visit me to celebrate my birthday, and during this wonderful visit, we got the opportunity to go out on the lake and ride. 🌊🚤
I want to extend my deepest gratitude to the members of the Claremont Boat Club at the Cove for providing us with this incredible opportunity. Without their support, this adventure would not have been possible.
The boat ride itself was an incredible experience. As Cody’s dad, Mr. Sidney, and my dad, Carlos, skillfully steered the boat, we went along, creating waves and making splashes. It was a delightful sight to behold, and both our families thoroughly enjoyed every moment.
As we rode along, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of awe and wonder. It dawned on me that life is just like being on a boat. Just like when you’re trying to reach a beautiful destination, there are always obstacles along the way. But the beauty of life is that you don’t give up. You just keep driving, pushing through the challenges, and embracing the opportunities that come your way.
One of the most memorable moments during this boat ride was when Cody and his dad began jamming out to the song “She’s Somebody’s Daughter.” Cody, with his infectious enthusiasm, was mumbling the lyrics and rocking his head, with a huge smile on his face. It was a sight that brought a smile to my face as well.
In that moment, I couldn’t help but think that this is how you’re supposed to live life. Like you’re on a boat, you’re constantly moving forward, enjoying the journey, and embracing the moments that make it all worthwhile.
Despite the many struggles, I may have suffered cerebral palsy feeling that the obstacles were too big to overcome. Despite my best efforts, I was just unable to ride along on the waves.
My boat of life was steered each and every day because of those obstacles in those waves. Seeing the world through a different light and experiencing new things every day has been a great experience for me. So, as I reflect on this beautiful day, I realize the importance of perseverance in facing life’s challenges. It’s about pushing through the obstacles, no matter how daunting they may seem, and finding joy in the journey itself. This boat ride was more than just a fun day out; it was a powerful reminder that with determination and the support of loved ones, we can navigate through life’s waves and reach our destinations.
My determination has helped me overcome challenges head-on and achieve goals I once thought were impossible. My experience with cerebral palsy has taught me the importance of resilience and never giving up, no matter how challenging the journey seems. Each small victory has taught me how important persistence is, as well as the incredible strength that comes from within. Determination is like the sun – it shines brightest in the darkest of places and has the power to bring life to any situation. A beacon of light guides us through difficult times, keeping us focused and motivated to reach our goals. As I think about the boat ride and what I was able to think about during that time, I realize just how life has always worked out for me, even through all my struggles. Sometimes struggles get to the protagonists in your story, and sometimes you have to meet some antagonists to get on the right side of others.
The boat you steer is invisible, people call it the book of life and the ride of your life. It is always there and you have complete control of it.
It is true that life’s journey could be bumpy and you have to ride the waves, but what people seem to forget during the waves is that they lead you to a destination you never imagined possible. That is where you appreciate the people you have in your book of life now. They stand by you and always believe that you could push through if you just kept steering the boat. It is in times of difficulty that you realize the power of the human spirit. It is then that you realize the importance of having people around you who believe in you and are willing to support you no matter the circumstances. It is then that you realize that anything is possible.
My cerebral palsy has certainly made the past 29 trips around the lake and around the world challenging, but I wouldn’t trade the way my boats have been guided. Even on my worst days, I look back at my lessons every day to see if I can improve them. I recommend embracing the way things have been handled, since they have shaped who I am today, and I do not have any complaints, even on my worst days. You should look at living your life in the same way you drive a boat. A key element of steering my boat involves embracing the reflections that the journey offers, since you never know where it will lead.
So, as we navigate life’s ups and downs, remember that it’s okay to be a little wet, a little messy, and a little adventurous. Embrace the experiences that bring you joy, laugh wholeheartedly, and rock that boat with a smile on your face. Life is a journey, and it’s a grand adventure. 🚢🌈
