No matter how hard it is to tell the truth, you should never be afraid to tell your story because one day your story will be someone else’s survival guide Your story has the potential to change lives. You have the power to give hope and to inspire others to keep going. Don’t be afraid to stand up and speak your truth.
Due to all the challenges and obstacles I faced in my life from the time she was born until 28 years later, I am capable of sharing those experiences with others. It has taught me that making the world a better place is the one thing I must do. This is not just for myself, but for the next generation of people living with disabilities in a world not designed for them.
That is why I share my story and tell it as it is, and I’m not afraid of holding any part of it. I am determined to show the world that with the right resources, people with disabilities can and will succeed, and that we are no less capable than anyone else. I want to provide hope and show that anything is possible if you are willing to put in the work and have the right support system. I believe that together we can make the world a more inclusive and accessible place.
I want people to know that living with Cerebral Palsy is not a tragedy and people shouldn’t feel pity about. People should celebrate us and people should embrace us for who we are as people. We shouldn’t be seen as lesser just because we have some physical challenges. We are capable of living meaningful lives just like everyone else. Let’s celebrate our differences and strive for a more inclusive and understanding society.
The concept of disability goes beyond just medical diagnoses, so I want people to see the world through my perspective as well as my friends’ perspectives. Everyone experiences the world differently, and it’s important to understand and recognize these differences. Rather than seeing disability as an obstacle, we should view it as an opportunity. A more inclusive society can be created by combining our different perspectives.
Hence, I’m not afraid to tell the truth about my life, both the good and the bad, because I believe that the truth brings more awareness compared to medical terms. Yes, you may get the truth about a medical diagnosis when you go to your doctor, but this is only half the story. For instance, a diagnosis of depression may be accurate in terms of the symptoms, but it does not give the full context of the individual’s life story and how they got to that point.
This is similar to taking a picture with a camera. While the picture may capture the moment, it doesn’t tell the full story of what happened before or after the click of the shutter. The deeper truth lies in the details and context of the situation.
Speak your truth; it might be the scariest thing you ever do, but it might also be the best thing you ever do in order to change the world and how people see things. Be brave and stand up for what you believe in, even if it means you are standing alone. Don’t be afraid to challenge the status quo and trust that your voice matters. Speak up for a world of inclusion and understanding.
