Many of us have favorite movies that we love watching over and over again. These movies relate to our lives and inspire us to be better than we are today.
For me, those movies are Pixar’s “Finding Nemo” and Disney’s “The Little Mermaid.” As a child, I struggled with feeling different from everyone else my age, and the characters in these movies helped me realize that I’m not alone in my feelings.
Just like Ariel in “The Little Mermaid,”, I wanted to be part of a world where I was the same as everyone else. I remember watching “Little Mermaid” and thinking, “Wow, Ariel understands me.” I considered Arial to be my hero because no matter how hard her life is, she faces her own battles, just like I wanted to.
“The Little Mermaid” has inspired me to grow into who I am today. The movie has taught me that I have a voice and I should use it to improve the world, which has helped me as a 23-year-old college student who wants to major in English. Thanks to my favorite inspirational movie, I’m no longer afraid of what people think of me, am ready to fight for what I want in life, and am thankful for the life I have because it could be much worse.“Finding Nemo” has also taught me valuable lessons about who I am and who I hope to become. The first time I watched the movie, I fell in love with Nemo’s character because his “lucky fin” (a small, scarred fin he earned as a result of a shark attack before he was born) never seemed to stop him from achieving anything he set his mind to. As someone in a “lucky fin” situation myself, I learned that I should chase my dreams, thanks to “Finding Nemo.”
“The Little Mermaid” and “Finding Nemo” have both inspired me to be the adult I am today. They have taught me that I should never give up on what I want, no matter how out of reach my dreams seem. I have learned that even if I’m afraid of where my journey may lead, I need to stay strong and hope for the best. These Disney movies have guided me through so much in life. I’m extremely thankful for Walt Disney’s creative magic and all he’s done for the world.
